Really, it’s kind of shocking that they still require PhDs for these sorts of positions, given just how incredibly unlikely it is that any kind of truly disadvantaged or un-privileged person would have one. Requiring PhDs for such a position is just perpetuating the structures of privilege and preventing the horizontal transfer of skilled, knowledgeable people people into academia. Given the kind of candidate they want, why don’t they just hire the Black Girl Dangerous writers, or someone from the Trans/Intersex Prison Justice project? Or an illegal immigrant community activist? Think of the possibilities for true Social Justice they are turning down!
